Bailey 12 x 12 Acrylic on Canvas

I love that my friend chose a puppy photo for her commemorative portrait of her sweet Bailey. Even though she looks cute, she gave me quite a battle, and it took me three different tries until I felt that I had it "right'.  I'm glad I kept starting over, as I really like the fresh, loose strokes of the background with the different colours poking through, and I think she still looks pretty cute,

Oakley 8x8 Acrylic on Canvas

I thought it would be fun to try to paint an owl on a smaller, square canvas as I usually paint them in a much larger, rectangular shape. It also gave me a chance to play around with the background colour (something I have been doing a lot of lately). I love the bushy eyebrows on this guy!

Bart 18 x 24 Acrylic on canvas

I confess - I love to paint roosters! They have such attitude, and it is fun to paint something so bold and bright. I will be taking this guy and a few of his friends to On the Farm in Squamish tomorrow. I'm delighted that they will be showing some of my work as it is one of my favorite local places to shop

Harry 12x16 Acrylic on Canvas

I was feeling a little festive for Easter and thought I'd try to paint a hare. I've tried to paint a few other bunnies last year, but this is the first one that I've been happy with. I went with more of a neutral background but I love how you can still see bits of colour poking through.

Blue Minou 10 x 20 Acrylic on Canvas

I've been going through lots of old mementos / photos while packing up my studio this week and I felt a little nostalgic for my old feline friends. So I took it as inspiration to try painting my first cat - of course I went for a black cat just like my two old gals. The eyes are very different from painting a dog's, and it was fun to try something different.

"C" 16x16 Acrylic on Canvas

I just finished this guy up today. He took a little longer than I hoped but I confess that I'm finding it a bit difficult to "get into the groove" during the moving process.  In the end I think he looks pretty great and more importantly his owners think so too :)
